What is Creative Unwind?
Creative Unwind came from a pretty simple idea... we all need a little more time to slow down, get out of our heads, and just make something.
These aren’t traditional art classes. There’s no painting at the front of the room that we’re all trying to recreate. Instead, I’ll introduce an idea or technique, put out some beautiful materials, and give you the freedom to see where it takes you. Some months we might play with watercolor. Other times it might be collage, poetry, ink, paper, mixed media, or something completely unexpected. Every gathering will be a little different.
The point isn’t to make something perfect. It’s to enjoy the process of making it. And if you’re thinking, “But I don’t have an artistic bone in my body,” you are exactly who I hope will come. You don’t need to know how to draw or paint. You don’t even need to think of yourself as creative. Just come willing to try something new, play a little, and see what happens.
We’ll have tea, a few treats, good conversation, beautiful supplies, and a cozy place to spend a couple of hours creating together.
No experience. No expectations. No art to copy. Just come and play.
What to Expect
Each Creative Unwind gathering is a two-hour creative experience designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and fun.
I’ll introduce our project, show you a few techniques, and help you get started. From there... it’s yours.
There’s no “right” finished piece and no expectation that everyone’s work will look the same. In fact, I hope it doesn’t.
You’ll have everything you need waiting for you, including all of your art supplies, tea and a little something sweet.
Come by yourself or bring a friend. Either way, you’ll be welcomed in.
The Creative Unwind Philosophy
Slow down.
For a couple of hours, put down the to-do list and give yourself permission to be right where you are.
Get creative.
Try something you may have never tried before. Play with color, words, lines, texture, and materials without worrying about whether you’re doing it “right.”
See what happens.
That’s the fun part.
